Type Locality and Naming
Along the Kaznok River. D.A. Starshinin in 1971 (460, p. 218). Stratotype on the right bank of the Kaznok Say.
Synonym: Kaznok Suite, Казнокская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Polychrome clasto-lavas, rhyolite, trachyte, phonolite tuffs, alkaline volcanites with interlayers of volcanomictic sandstones, limestone conglomerates, limestones. At the base, a package (M. 50-100m) of polymictic, predominantly limestone conglomerates with abundant remains of Visean brachiopods, crinoids, rugose corals, foraminifers. Thickness up to 1500m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Lies with erosion and unconformity on Silurian, Devonian, and Middle-Upper Carboniferous Marguzor Fm rocks
Upper contact
Overlying deposits are absent.
Regional extent
North part of the Gissar Range, Chakylkalyan Mountains.
